Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan well, using butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until chunky or smooth as preferred.
  4. Add melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  5. Stir in sugar, beaten eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  6. Mix in the sour cream until the batter is creamy.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just combined without overmixing.
  9. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for the top if desired.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  11. Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking with a toothpick after 50 minutes until it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  12. Allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
