Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large apple, peeled and chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) and grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix together brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream together white sugar and softened butter in a large bowl until smooth, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the creamed mixture alternating with milk until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, layer with half of the chopped apples, and sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  6. Add the remaining batter, then layer with the remaining apples and cinnamon-sugar mixture, swirling gently with a knife.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean, then cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled bread.
