  • 8-10 slices bacon
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Toothpicks
  • Mixing spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F (190C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Take each chicken tender and wrap it with a slice of bacon, securing the ends with a toothpick if necessary.
  4. Roll the bacon-wrapped chicken tenders in the brown sugar mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the sugar adheres.
  5. Place the wrapped chicken tenders on the prepared wire rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Allow the tenders to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a leaner option, you can use turkey bacon or prosciutto instead of regular bacon. To enhance sweetness, consider drizzling a bit of maple syrup over the chicken tenders before baking. Leftover chicken tenders can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. If you prefer a milder dish, adjust or omit the cayenne pepper to suit your taste. Serve with dipping sauces like ranch dressing or barbecue sauce for added flavor!
