  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 0.5 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Meat mallet or rolling pin

  • Meat thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

  3. Dip each cutlet in milk and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the butter and cook the chicken cutlets until golden brown on each side.
  5. Transfer the chicken cutlets to the baking dish and bake for about 10 minutes until reached 165°F.
  6. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  7. Add chicken broth and bring it to a boil, stirring to loosen browned bits.
  8. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a slight boil, then reduce heat to low.
  9. Add Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, and black pepper, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  10. Remove the chicken from the oven and spoon the basil cream sauce over the top, then serve immediately.

Notes

This dish is versatile, perfect for cozy date nights or casual gatherings, and it can be simplified with various substitutions like using chicken thighs or almond milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently to maintain creaminess. For added flavor, consider marinating chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic, or experiment with herbs like parsley for a unique twist. Enjoy!
