- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, then stir in 1/2 cup of brown sugar until bubbly; pour into a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Arrange 2 cups of blueberries over the brown sugar mixture in the cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup softened butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; then mix in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with 1/2 cup milk, ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour batter over the blueberries in the cake pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
