Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • to garnish fresh parsley, chopped

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Tongs or a slotted spoon
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Season steak slices with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Add the steak to the hot pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add diced onion and sliced red bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add uncooked penne pasta and pour in the beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender and most liquid is reduced.
  4. Slowly stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until sauce is smooth and thick. If too thick, add a splash of milk or more broth to reach desired consistency.
  5. Return the cooked steak to the pan and gently stir everything together. Let it simmer for 2-3 more minutes to meld flavors and heat steak through. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality Cajun seasoning for the best flavor. Don't skimp on the Parmesan cheese for a rich, creamy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of cream or broth if needed. Adjust spiciness by modifying the amount of red pepper flakes. Add more vegetables like zucchini or spinach for additional nutrients. Serve with garlic bread or a simple green salad for a complete meal.
