Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt; add yeast mixture and olive oil, and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic; cover and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a 9-inch deep dish pan with olive oil.
  5. Roll out the risen dough and press it into the prepared pan, covering the bottom and sides.
  6. Layer the cooked Italian sausage, followed by mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  7. Pour the crushed tomatoes over the cheese, then sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  8. Bake the pizza for 30-40 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  9. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing into pieces.
