Ingredients
  

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2-3 tbsp milk optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, sour cream, eggs, vegetable oil, water, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the swirl.
  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, spread evenly, and sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture. Cover with the remaining batter.
  5. Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon, beating until creamy. Add milk as needed.
  7. Once the cake is cool, frost it evenly with the cream cheese frosting.
