- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic, letting them soften.
- Stir in marinara sauce, dried basil, salt, and pepper; let simmer gently.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the shredded mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan; season with salt and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
- Lay down three lasagna noodles, followed by cheese mixture and more sauce.
- Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and remaining cheeses.
- Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
