Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 24 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water until the batter is combined; the batter will be thin.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  7. In a new mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and creamy peanut butter until smooth and creamy.
  8. Add granulated sugar, flour, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  9. Incorporate eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The filling should be smooth.
  10. Place one chocolate cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half of the cheesecake filling over it.
  11. Top with the second chocolate cake layer and add the remaining cheesecake filling.
  12. Place the third cake layer on top to complete the assembly.
  13. For the ganache, heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers. Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate and peanut butter.
  14. Let sit for 1-2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  15. Pour ganache over the assembled cake.
