- In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Grease a 9-inch deep dish pan with olive oil.
- Roll out the dough and press it into the prepared pan, covering the bottom and sides.
- Layer the cooked sausage, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Pour the crushed tomatoes over the cheese, then sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes if using, salt, and pepper.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.

Notes
For an extra crispy crust, brush the edges of the dough with melted butter before baking.
You can use bread flour for a chewier crust, and substitute sausage with ground beef, turkey, or a plant-based alternative.
