Ingredients

  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pound boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup snow peas

Method
 

  1. Bring chicken broth to a boil in a medium-sized pot.
  2. Add rice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder, stirring until coated.
  3. Cover and reduce heat, simmering for 20-25 minutes until tender.
  4. Whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  5. Marinate the beef slices in the mixture for 30 minutes to an hour.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and sauté bell peppers and onions until soft, adding snow peas for the last few minutes.
  7. In the same skillet or a grill pan, cook marinated beef slices until charred and cooked through.
  8. Layer rice, beef, and vegetables on a plate, garnishing with sesame seeds.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally with kimchi or pickled cucumbers.
