Ingredients
  

  • 450 g large shrimp, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • cup honey
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (like Sriracha)
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • to taste Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with buttermilk until coated. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, spices, salt, and pepper.
  3. Drain shrimp from buttermilk, shaking off excess liquid; roll each in the flour mixture until coated. Rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the shrimp in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Warm honey in a small saucepan; stir in hot sauce, chili flakes, and vinegar until smooth.
  7. Toss fried shrimp in the warm honey sauce until coated. Garnish with parsley before serving.
