Ingredients
  

  • 450 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails left on
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • as needed Vegetable oil for frying
  • cup spicy honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • as desired Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Toss the shrimp in buttermilk and let them marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and toss them in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
  5. Fry the shrimp in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Drizzle the warm fritters with spicy honey and sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish.
