  • 1 piece pâte brisée (pie crust) store-bought or homemade
  • 100 g sugar
  • 50 g butter unsalted
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 1 piece egg beaten for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon for flavor

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Unroll the pâte brisée into a 9-inch pie dish and trim excess dough.
  3. Wash, peel, and slice the apples into thin, even slices.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the sugar and vanilla sugar, stirring until light golden caramel forms; add cinnamon.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the apple slices, ensuring they are well coated.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it along the edges of the crust; sprinkle extra cinnamon on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the crust is golden and juices are bubbling.
