- Grease and line an 8x8-inch (20x20cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
- Beat the egg yolks with sugar and vanilla until creamy and pale, about 4-5 minutes. Gradually add the melted butter, mixing on low speed.
- Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, stirring until smooth, then slowly add lukewarm milk while mixing. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (170°C).
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites for 1 minute, then add sugar and salt, beating until stiff peaks form, about 4 minutes.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the yolk mixture in two parts, using a spatula.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is firm.
