Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix lightly and shape into 4 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with butter or oil. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté the sliced onions for 8-10 minutes until softened and golden brown.
- Sprinkle flour over the onions, stirring to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then slowly add the beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Nestle the seared patties back into the skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for 10-12 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Top with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.

Notes
This dish keeps well for meal prepping—flavors improve over time. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
For a richer gravy, consider adding a splash of red wine.
Serve with sides like mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a green salad to complement the meal. Enjoy!
