  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 quart vegetable oil, for frying
  • to dust powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until combined and slightly frothy.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a glass measuring cup or squeeze bottle for easier pouring.
  5. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C) in a heavy-bottomed deep skillet or Dutch oven.
  6. Swirl the batter into the hot oil starting from the center and moving outward to form a round shape.
  7. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
  9. Repeat with the remaining batter and serve immediately.
